Risk assessment tool

Risk assessment and risk management are crucial parts of protection of women experiencing intimate partner violence and their children. Therefore, we have prepared a document focusing on risk assessment tools in cases of intimate partner violence against women and their children. The document was created together with partners of the project “Protection of victims of gender-based violence – response to pandemic challenges (RISKFREE)” coordinated by Autonomous Women’s House Zagreb.

The aim of the document is to provide an overview of key elements for the development of risk assessment tools and to provide an overview of the existing tools for risk assessment in cases of violence against women and their children. Also, we included some specific knowledge and experiences from our work and research we have conducted within this project. In the document, we also try to clarify the challenges in applying this tool and what should be taken into account in order to improve the protection of women from violence, but at the same time to protect them from secondary victimization.

We will then use the knowledge on risk assessment tools within trainings for practitioners who provide support to women survivors of violence and/or their children that will be conducted by members of partner organizations in their respective countries.

Risk assessment tool was developed within the project “Protection of victims of gender-based violence – response to pandemic challenges (RISKFREE)” financed by the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values program (CERV) of the European Commission.
